5 Tips for Getting Started
First of all, welcome to our community! I am so thrilled that you have chosen Sculpt as your Pilates platform, and I am always here to support you in your health and wellness journey. Starting is always the hardest part so well done for taking that first step - this article will give you a few tips on how to make the platform work for you, and how to build a consistent routine that you enjoy!
Explore
Dive right in and see what takes your fancy. There is a Beginners Section to explore if you are brand new to Pilates which is great for helping you understand the foundations of form and technique. Otherwise, scroll through the class library and see what workouts jump out to you - let’s not overcomplicate it - go with that gut feeling and see how you get on. If you struggle with some of the exercises, that’s absolutely fine and very normal!
Create a Dedicated Space
This one for me is important. It doesn’t have to be big - as long as you have room for a mat, a glass of water, and your device for following along, that’s all you need. But it needs to be for you - with as little distraction as possible. I know sometimes that’s hard with the chaos of life, but if you can steal 15-20 minutes away from it all, just for you, it will make you feel so good!
Establish a Routine
Consistency is crucial for seeing progress in your Pilates. Try to set a regular schedule for your practice, whether it’s a couple of times a week or daily. Building a routine will help you stay committed to making Pilates a part of your lifestyle.
Listen to Your Body
Pay attention to how yourbody feels during each exercise and respect your limits. I will also provide cues around form and technique and if you feel like you can’t quite maintain it, you’ll need to reduce your range of movement. If it feels uncomfortable or painful, stop or a few moments, take a breath and reset your body position.
Celebrate your Wins
Pilates an be brutal sometimes - you might spend a lot of time trying to perfect that Roll up or may struggle getting through the whole of The Hundred early on. So its really important to celebrate your wins, no matter how small they are. Every step forwards, every workout you manage to fit into your busy shcedule is a victory on your path to a healthier, stronger you. Keep track of your progress and be proud of the commitment you’ve made to yourself.
